POSITION OVERVIEW

A member of the Scientific Design Manufacturing organization; with specific accountability for manufacturing process technology and process engineering with the goal of driving catalyst performance and process innovation.

 

Drives the scale-up and commercialization process for new products from R&D.  Defines, documents, and clarifies all manufacturing process control parameters (set-points & ranges) to ensure that all intermediates and final products are produced Safely, meet Quality standards, and enable the production team to achieve productivity targets.

 

Drives continuous improvement and innovation, while leveraging manufacturing technology best practices, current industry standards and company sustainability goals.

 

Collaborates with internal and external partners to investigate process/production improvement opportunities with the goal of identifying and implementing solutions that simplify, streamline, reduce cost, improve quality, and/or improve efficiencies with the Manufacturing process.

 

MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Defines, Documents, and clarifies the physical, chemical, and catalytic property targets for each Manufacturing Technology unit of operations and confirms these units are capable to achieve these targets.

 

·         Defines, Documents, and clarifies all operating control parameter (set points, ranges, etc.) for existing and new manufacturing technology and processes as they pertain to EO catalyst production and catalytic performance.

 

·         Investigate and Track catalyst manufacturing technology best practices (competitive intelligence and industry innovations) to drive SD innovation.

 

·         Leads projects to implement innovative manufacturing process technologies for future plant designs including potential demonstration at a pilot scale or vendor laboratory scale.

 

·         Identifies sources of variation in the process and arranges for implementation of improved process control.

 

·         Supports the technical aspects of new manufacturing technology projects.

 

·         Evaluates and recommend improvements to the precision and accuracy of production equipment as needed.

 

·         Collaborates with the Manufacturing Team to trouble-shoot, problem solve, perform Root Cause Analysis, propose process improvements, and innovate in support of the manufacturing improvement targets for EHS, Quality, productivity, sustainability, and reliability.

 

·         Interacts routinely with the Manufacturing Team to ensure the entire organization develops process technology-engineering know-how.

 

·         Reviews plant process data as needed; issues and implements evaluation reports to recommend optimization of the existing process

 

 

 

 

BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

 

  • BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering, or an applicable Engineering field.
  • 7-10 years in technical or manufacturing role within the petrochemical industry.  Experience in the catalyst or fine chemicals markets strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influencing, and networking skills for use in internal and external environments.
  • Good communication skills, written and oral, and in English.
  • Preferred familiarity with GMP, statistical process control techniques, Lean/ Six Sigma, and /or process control software and systems.
