At SD, we understand that the job search process can be challenging. The professional recruitment process is a four-stage process focused on identifying, interviewing and hiring the very best professional for each opportunity.

Step 1 - APPLICATION

Apply to each position of interest as it is aligned with your educational background, skill set and experience. Apply by linking to hr@scidesign.com. After applying to a position, you will receive an e-mail acknowledgement confirming receipt of your application.

Step 2 - EVALULATION

Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed against the requirements of the position. Often large volumes of resumes are received. Only the most closely aligned candidates will be contacted directly.

Step 3 - INTERVIEW

The interview process may include a phone interview with a Scientific Design recruiter and/or hiring manager face-to-face interview. The primary purpose of the interview process is to assess the knowledge and organizational fit of the candidate to the position. It serves as a way for the candidate to gain a better understanding of the opportunity and the Scientific Design organization.

Stage 4 - SELECTION

Once a position has been filled, those candidates not selected will be notified as to the status of the application. It is the goal of Scientific Design to hire the most qualified candidate for each opportunity.

Position: Heat Exchanger Specialist

Job Duties:

Heat Exchanger Specialist position available in Little Ferry, NJ. Duties involve performing thermal and mechanical design of large tubular reactors and specialized heat exchangers for Ethylene Oxide/Ethylene Glycol process using industry protocols including HTRI (Heat Transfer Research Inc.), TEMA (Tubular Exchange Manufacturing Assoc.), PV Elite, API 610, and s-ASME Code. Provide technical service with respect to specific heat transfer equipment used in EO/EG plants. Prepare process data sheets and mechanical specifications, and review fabrication drawings and vendor prints of reactors, heat exchangers, air coolers, pressure vessels, distillation columns, tanks, compressors and pumps to ensure proper design, fabrication, inspection testing and certification. Review and approve fabrication and welding procedures for reactors. Participate in qualifying fabrication shops for tubular reactors. Prepare engineering flow sheets and instrument and pipeline data summaries. Review and analyze performance data of heat exchangers. Carry out capacity expansion studies and optimization studies, and develop and evaluate of engineering flowsheet alternatives for heat exchangers. Consult with process, project and operations engineers to prepare plot plans. Participate in field technical service activities and catalyst service visits on an advisory basis.

Job Requirements:

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a Heat Exchanger Engineer or related occupation. Five years of progressively responsible experience must involve thermal and mechanical design of heat exchanger equipment for petrochemical industry and preparation of process data sheets and mechanical specifications of heat exchangers. Must have at least one year of experience using industry protocols including HTRI, TEMA, B-JAC, COMPRESS, API 660, AP1 661 and ASME Code. Please reference Job Code 618 when applying.
